Safe, 4-step Battery Charging The Battery Tender Plus 12-volt/1.25-amp Battery Charger is much more than a trickle charger. Powered by BTP microprocessor technology, it has a "brain". Utilizing a 4-step charging program (initialization, bulk charge, absorption mode and float mode), it allows you to simply connect the charger to a battery, either in or out of a vehicle, and forget about it until you are ready to put the battery to work. Like all Battery Tender chargers, at the end of the regular charger cycle the it automatically switches its output voltage to a safe, storage or float level that eliminates the need to worry about the damaging effects of overcharging, and the resulting need to check on the condition of the battery. Every time I want to fire up my old 71 Datsun (that's Nissan for those of you younger than 30) 240 Z there's a good chance that the battery has drained down and that I can't start it! Looking around at car forums I read about this nifty little gadget....It's like a battery trickle charger....sort of. Whereas it's not recommended to keep a trickle charger hooked up all the time, this one has circuitry to limit the current and sense when the battery needs charging. It only charges at 1.25 amps which is easier on the battery.
I've had it on for a month now and it's great. The first couple of days, the red light was on indicating charging. Since then it's been on green and the car starts right up. I live in Houston where the heat and humidity can be just as brutal on batteries as the cold.
I highly recommend this "tender" for those that have cars that stay unused for long periods.

This little gizmo is dynamite.
I have a 4 year old Accord that, due to circumstance, only has about 4400 miles. Rarely driven...and what driving is done is mostly at night.
Sat for a week once in very cold weather...dead battery.
Ordered this. Hooked it up. 100% charge and the battery is very powerful once again.( had thought I would probably need a new one).
It's very small size makes it extremely easy to use and store. And it will not overcharge, so you do not have to babysit the process.
It's LEDs glow red when charging. Green and red blink once 80% has been achieved. Solid green at 100%.
It did, in very cold weather, take a long time to establish a full charge on my almost completely discharged battery. The battery would have been usable in a few hours, but 100% took close to 18.
Highly recommended.

I have an older version of this charger that I bought in the mid 90's. I used it to maintain my garaged Mustang's battery over the winter months for many years. I made a cigarette lighter adapter so all I needed to do was to plug it in instead of using the alligator clips. I have to say this thing is dead reliable! It always kept my battery in prime condition. I love it and recommend it highly.

ALL the DOT-legal high output bulbs achieve higher output by overdriving the filiments, which reduces bulb life. They have to do this because the DOT puts limits on wattage. The only exception are HID and HIR bulbs, which use new technology to get more light out of less watts.
According to Sylvania: "Since our SilverStar(r) ULTRA headlights are up to 50% brighter than standard halogen, they will have a shorter life span when compared to our other products. Part number 9005SU will last for approximately 125 hours of "on time", 200 hours for part 9006SU."

If you want good lights on a 9006/9005 car, get some Toshiba 911 and 912 HIR bulbs. They'll cost you about $15 more than the Silverstars Ultras, put out more light... and last 5 times as long!

As I reach my 60th year on this earth, I have found my "night vision" while driving to be less then optimal! Because of that I wanted to have better lighting from my vehicle's headlight's. I also wanted to be in compliance within all 50 states while accomplishing this lighting task.
After a bit of investigation online I decided that the Sylvania 9006SU BP TWIN Silverstar Ultra, Twin Pack was the right choice for me.
I have not been disappointed in that choice. Everything touted about the lamps has been truthful, and I'm glad I did make the switch from the OEM lamps to these.
I suggest anyone needing a similar improvement for their night time driving do the same!

The Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs are the best auto headlamps I've ever used. They are as bright as you're going to get without upgrading to high-intensity lights. My primary concern, is the life of the product. My first set lasted 8 months, and I don't have day running lights and I assume I use them as any other average/reasonable driver. I was unhappy with that set, so I researched more on Sylvania-Osram's website and they have posted on their website a description that says these specific lights do not last as long as less bright lights. That makes since, but 8 months?!?!
Their customer service was excellent and sent me a new set immediately after my complaint. Before installing the new Ultra's, I put in Sylvania's lights that are one step below these, but are still supposed to be relatively bright. Those were pretty good, but also only last 8 months. I'm now back to the Ultra's that they sent me, but after that...I'm not sure if I want to spend $40 - $50... Read more

The 3160 is a very useful tool if you have the right vehicle. It provides generic codes and more from many makes but on European, Korean or Swedish vehicles dont expect much more than the generic codes.
I did not research tool enough to realize nearly all of the "adavanced DTC" functions are for Chrysler/Jeep, Ford/Mazda,GM/Isuzu, Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus vehicles only. The sales verbiage DOES explain the limitations of the ABS testing to certain makes/models but DOES NOT provide the information that the tools enchanced DTC functions share the same vehicle limitations.
The enchanced functions are described in the owners manual as: "The "enhanced" mode provides the ability to retrieve enhanced DTCs from most Chrysler/Jeep, Ford/Mazda,GM/Isuzu, Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus vehicles. I was tired of the cheap OBD readers and wanted something much better. I also wanted something I could read the ABS system with. The Innova 3160 does the trick. It is easy to use and understand. I like the way it prompts you in order to get what you are looking for. It has an excellent screen with the exact information you need to make repairs. It is obvious that they consulted with a repair tech when they designed it. I haven't tried to up-date it from the computer as yet, but it has all the necessary items and information with it to do so. On the down side, it doesn't have an explanation for all the manufacturer codes, especially the ABS codes. I found that I am going to their web site quite often to get the expanation. The web-site is very good and helpful though. I really like it. The worst thing is the CHEAP carrying case. The unit won't even fit into it with the cable attached. I am a dealer mechanic at a Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealer and I bought this as a backup to the shop provided factory scan tools which I can never find. I was expecting a bit more but for a couple hundred bucks I guess you can't ask for much. The first car I used it on the fault code was a generic number that I could find zero information on how to diagnose and I ended up having to locate the factory scan tool. The vehicle was a Sprinter van so it's a Mercedes based vehicle. Strike one. On the next few vehicles I looked at, I brought both the factory scanner and the Innova and checked the codes with both. For straight Chrysler engine codes it works ok. It only works on a limited range of abs codes depending on the year. So far I'm not impressed. It's good for clearing faults and looking at a basic data stream but it can't replace a real scan tool. If you want something to check codes at your house or clear codes at work this tool is fine.
